Sms feedback - Parktown boys
February 19, 2009 Edition 1
The Human Rights Commission has been looking into this complaint for the past two years, but it appears to be a lame duck. The real issue lies in giving young people too much authority at a young age, and they become policemen. It is true that school is the devil's place, and it's about time Minister Pandor and her department woke up to this fact. - Anonymous
Let's get pupils learning and teachers teaching. Stop cliques and bullying. Mr Clark and colleagues, hang your heads in shame. - Anonymous
In my opinion, the boys responsible for this should be removed from the school and sent to a reformatory. There is no place for this kind of behaviour in our society. Shades of Kamp Staaldraad all over again, it would seem. It's barbarism of the highest degree. - Steve
If it was reported that robbers had broken in to a home and done what the Parktown prefects and head boy did to an adult male, we would be horrified. This is being done to schoolboys by schoolboys, with the school's collusion via their lack of appropriate response, which makes them as guilty as the sadistic pupils. Those victimised boys are at high risk. - Parent, Linksfield
All the boys and teachers involved in the initiation should be held accountable for their actions. You can't beat a human being until they bleed and get away with it. Children should be taught that they have to be accountable and accept the consequences of their actions. - Anonymous
A fish rots from the head - the principal should know what is happening, otherwise he is a useless principal. He should be charged with abuse. What a lot of rubbish that to be beaten builds character. Children need to be caned and punished, like it use to be. We had fewer problems. Bring back discipline, which the world lacks. - Anonymous
The real issue is the continued existence of the so-called prefect system, which is contrary to the constitution.
